Snowy Creek near Maurice
Snowy Creek near Maurice| 5"x7" | oil on hardboard
It is the season of giving, so I think I'll give this painting away. All subscribers to the blog will automatically be entered in the drawing and if you make a comment on the painting (below), I'll throw your name in the hat a second time. It will double your chances!
This is a small creek one mile west and two miles south of town. Winter officially arrived today and it looks and feels like it too.
Another year has flown by. Thanks for taking the time to view my work and a special thanks to those of you who have written kind comments and sent e-mails. They mean a great deal to me.
Merry Christmas, and may you have a blessed new year.
I will do the drawing for the painting on December 31.

Lovely painting. It accurately depicts rural Iowa in winter. Thanks for sharing. Continue your great art work! Blessings to you and yours in the new year.
ReplyDeleteI've got a soft spot for farmscapes and always like your winter scenes.
ReplyDeletePlus, I'm doubling my odds of winning!
Merry Christmas!
Wow! This is a beautiful picture of God's creation...and I'm glad I can enjoy the view without the bitter cold and wind. :)
ReplyDeleteVery nice painting. It's always fun to see what you're going to have out there next. Since I already have a couple of your earlier prints I would love to add to my VS collection! Merry Christmas to all!
ReplyDeleteHave to make sure I double my chances! But, sincerely, John, it's a great painting, and I have appreciated seeing your work through this blog. Merry Christmas to you my friend.
ReplyDeleteHey Bear-Man
ReplyDeleteFor some reason I don't have a recollection of seeing many 'landscapes' from you so I especially enjoyed this.
Be blessed, my friend, as you welcome the Child who changed everything.
Keep working for the King with your gifts & talents.
Beautiful...makes me miss Iowa! I love the color palette...slight purple sky with greys and browns in the foreground. The essence of winter. Your painting blogs always brighten my day, so please keep sharing with us!
ReplyDeleteI really like this painting, and I'm in awe that you find the time to paint and post this for all to enjoy!
ReplyDeleteHmmm...2 miles south of town and west? I wonder if this connects up with the creek I remember going through my Uncle Harold Vlieger's farm (now his son Howards)?
ReplyDeleteLove the painting! Apparently, it's near Gerald's dirt bike stomping grounds from his younger days! He spent alot of time exploring around this very area. Brought back a few memories!
ReplyDeleteHoliday Blessings to you and your family!
Hello John, I love seeing small glimpses of the town/country where I was raised and still hold dear. I guess deep down inside I'll always be a Maurice-ian.
ReplyDeleteThis looks like it's just outside Lubbock...NOT. I miss Iowa and this painting reminds me of why. Great work, as always. And thanks for providing a method of increasing my chances to win. That's very kind of you. (Now, if a guy named Luigi shows up at your door with some money in a briefcase right before the drawing, it's just coincidence. Really...

I am a former painter turned glass artist by financial necessity, now looking to go back to painting. I came across your blog after doing a search for a painting a day and I have to say your work has inspired me to start painting again! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteWill you be posting who won the drawing?
